Clutch-brake unit
EIDE designs and manufactures clutch-brake unit, a combination of clutch and brake in a single self-supporting assembly.
These clutch-brakes can be mounted directly on the application or between the motor and the gearbox in a simple way.
There are two main types: the pneumatic clutch-brake and the electromagnetic clutch-brake.
- The pneumatic clutch-brake is a compact unit consisting of a brake and a pneumatic clutch.
- It can be positive, acting as a clutch when air pressure is applied and braking by means of springs,
- It can be negative, being held in engagement by springs and disengaging when air pressure is applied.
- There are also versions with a toothed clutch for transmitting high torque in confined spaces.
- The electromagnetic clutch-brake is a compact unit that combines a brake and an electromagnetic clutch.
- It works in a similar way to an electromagnet, with one coil to activate the clutch and another to activate the brake. When electrical power is applied, a magnetic field is generated which actuates the clutch or brake mechanism.
These electromagnetic clutch-brakes offer low residual torque and moment of inertia.
In particular, the GEF electromagnetic clutch-brake is characterised by its low residual torque and low moment of inertia. The EFE electromagnetic clutch-brake is characterised by its compact, slim design and fast response. Its reduced length allows it to be installed on cantilever axles, offering easy-to-install drive control.
The NEF pneumatic clutch-brake is a compact unit combining a pneumatic clutch and a spring-applied antagonistic brake. It is powered by compressed air at a nominal pressure of 5.5 bar, and is used in a variety of applications.
