Description
What is the FAE electromagnetic brake?
The FAE electromagnetic brake is a technological innovation designed for applications where it is required to stop the movement quickly and accurately. This device works by applying a 24 Vdc voltage, which activates a coil that creates a magnetic field capable of attracting the armature and, therefore, effectively stopping the movement.
Positive current operated brake
The FAE electromagnetic brake is what is known as a positive brake, which means that it is activated by the flow of electric current.
When a DC voltage is applied to the coil, a magnetic field is generated which attracts the brake coil holder, which has a friction lining, towards the armature, thus achieving effective locking.
Versatile operation
The versatility of FAE electromagnetic brake lies in its ability to release the brake effectively when it is not receiving current.
A spring-membrane built into the device retracts the armature in the absence of current, allowing the shaft to rotate freely. This makes it suitable for applications where both braking and precise release of movement are required.
Key components
The FAE electromagnetic brake consists of key components that contribute to its efficient operation. These include the inductor with friction material and the rotor, which in turn comprises the armature with the spring-membrane.
The combination of these elements allows for optimal performance in a variety of applications.
Construction variations
The FAE electromagnetic brake is available in three different construction variants to suit various requirements:
- Construction 1.1: This is the basic brake unit, consisting of the armature and armature, with a riveted spring-membrane. It can be mounted directly onto a pulley or sprocket, making it ideal for specific applications.
- Construction 1.2 and 1.3: These variants incorporate the armature, armature and an aluminium bushing. They are designed to be mounted on the shaft where the braking action is required. This provides a more versatile and adaptable solution for different situations.
