It is made up of metal pinions and nylon crowns.
Thanks to nylon used in the manufacture of these crowns, there is no wear on their contact surface, they have a great power of absorbing vibrations and high mechanical resistance.
The elastic coupling absorbs and cushions torque discontinuities and misalignments between the shafts. Working under these conditions, a rigid coupling causes stresses that lead to malfunctions, the appearance of vibrations, fatigue of the components or finally the breakage of the system.
If the coupled machines are installed on irregular or elastic supports, the flexible coupling becomes essential.
Having no backlash, flexible couplings are quiet and do not cause frictional wear of components and are generally maintenance-free.
The elastic coupling admits greater tolerances than the rigid one and is cheaper.
