Description

What is the FDX electromagnetic spring brake?

The FDX electromagnetic spring brake (IP67) from Precima Magnettechnik is a robust and highly reliable solution designed to cope with the most demanding conditions.

Manufactured by the prestigious German firm Precima Magnettechnik, this FDX electromagnetic spring brake is distinguished by its strength, durability and versatility.

IP67 protection for harsh environments

The FDX has an IP67 protection rating, which means it is fully encapsulated and sealed to resist the ingress of dust and water. This makes it perfect for outdoor applications or in harsh environments where exposure to adverse elements is a concern.

Robust construction

All external parts of the brake are treated to improve strength and durability. This ensures that the FDX brake can withstand the most severe conditions without compromising performance.

Easy assembly with fixed air gap

Simplicity is key with the FDX. Its design incorporates a fixed air gap, making it easy to mount and ensuring reliable operation without the need for complicated adjustments.

Versatility in sizes and applications

The FDX brake is available in three different sizes to suit a variety of applications. It can be used for both static braking, ranging from 375 to 1500 Nm, and dynamic braking, with capacities ranging from 250 to 1000 Nm. This versatility allows users to select the option that best suits their specific needs.

Versatile applications

PRECIMA’s FLC is ideally suited to a variety of applications, including industrial machinery, conveyor systems, and emergency stop situations. Its ability to provide reliable braking makes it a first-class choice in environments where safety and performance are paramount.

Optional additional functions

The FDX can be further customised with additional features, such as a hand lever to release the brake and micro switches to monitor brake operation and wear.

Hard applications

This FDX electromagnetic spring brake is designed for applications in extremely challenging environments, such as offshore or marine climates. Its robustness and IP67 protection ensure consistent performance even in harsh conditions.

Characteristics

Highlights of the FDX Electromagnetic Spring Brake

  • Standard voltages: This product is designed to operate on a variety of standard voltages, including 24 VDC, 48 VDC, 103 VDC, 180 VDC and 205 VDC. These voltages provide flexibility to adapt the product to different configurations and power needs.
  • Special voltages on request: In addition to the standard voltages mentioned above, this product also offers the possibility to request special voltages according to the customer’s specific needs. This ensures greater versatility and customisation in the application of the product.
  • No fixed bearing or bearing on the brake side required: This product is designed in such a way that a fixed bearing or bearing on the brake side is not required. This can simplify installation and maintenance of the equipment on which the brake is used.
  • Degree of protection IP 54: The product complies with an IP 54 degree of protection. This means that it is protected against the ingress of dust in quantities that do not affect its operation and can withstand splashing water from any direction. This protection rating is especially important in environments where exposure to dust or water is a consideration, ensuring the durability and performance of the product.

Applications

The FDX electromagnetic spring brake can be used for different types of machinery, such as:

Mounting

Here you will find detailed information about the assembly of this product.

  • Spring brake ready to be mounted: The spring brake is delivered fully assembled and ready for installation. This means that there is no need for complicated assembly or additional parts. This feature speeds up the installation process and reduces downtime.
  • Air gaps for FLC, FDW are fixed without adjustment: The air gaps, which are the specific distances between critical brake components such as the brake shoes and drum, are fixed in the product design. This means that there is no need to make manual adjustments to these air gaps during installation or maintenance. The pre-defined air gaps ensure consistent and reliable brake performance.
  • Air gap of FDB, FDD and FDR brakes preset at the factory: The air gap refers to the distance between the moving parts of the brake, such as the brake shoes and the brake drum. In the case of FDB, FDD and FDR brakes, this air gap is pre-set at the factory before the product goes to market. This ensures that the brake is optimally configured for operation. In addition, it should be noted that, if necessary, the air gaps of these brakes can be adjusted at a later date without having to remove the brake from the motor. This facilitates eventual adjustments or maintenance without significant interruptions in operation.
