The FPC safety brake is a mechanical unit designed to stop the accidental fall of any lifting mechanism motorized by rack and pinion, chain or cable.
The most common use is in construction elevators, work platforms, forklifts or wind towers.
When the nominal speed of the hoist is exceeded, the FPC safety brake activates and completely stops the load. The standard Safety brake is only activated in the direction of descent, although if the application requires it, there is a version that brakes in both directions of rotation.
When does it act?
The FPC safety brake system only acts when the descent speed is greater than a previously determined value. Normally the activation value is regulated between 30% and 50% above the nominal speed of the application.
The sensing elements act by the action of centrifugal force and block the brake shaft, which in turn blocks the transmission of the structure.
The blocking takes place in a cushioned way until the platform is completely immobilized.
By activating the mechanism in the opposite direction to that of the lock By raising the platform a few centimeters, the FPC safety brake returns to its original state.
Allowing its use immediately without the need for intervention by any operator.
